Gossip Protocol

Nodes use a gossip protocol (BOLT 7) to share information about the network topology, including new channels and node announcements.

Watchtowers are third-party services that monitor the blockchain for fraud attempts on behalf of nodes that might be offline.

Splicing allows a channel's capacity to be resized on-chain without closing the channel, improving liquidity management.
